2,078 e-KTPs in Gorontalo Destroyed, Prevent Abuse
Afraid of being misused, 2,078 electronic identity cards (e-KTP) in Bone Bolango District, Gorontalo, were destroyed. The e-KTP that was destroyed was no longer valid because the owner's data had changed.
"Bone Bolango has 165 villages and urban villages. Since 2013 up to now, many KTPs have experienced changes in the data elements as many as 2,0278 KTPs. And this KTP this Thursday, we destroyed it by cutting," said Head of Population and Civil Registry (Dukcapil) Bone Bolango Regency Oktavianus Rahman told AFP on Thursday.
Octavian stated that KTPs that were damaged or had a change in population status in the hands of the Dukcapil had been collected and arranged in such a way that they were not scattered.
"Most KTPs from 2016 until now have been destroyed. We do this so that there is no abuse that is currently a national issue," said Octavian, who is also a former Bone Bolango Public Relations Karo.
He added, after being destroyed, this KTP would be sent to the Directorate General of Central Dukcapil. That is in accordance with procedures issued by the central government."There are 1,440 who currently do not have a KTP. We are targeting the end of December to have all recorded. The step taken is to do the recording by going directly to the villages," Octavian continued.
Meanwhile, Bone Bolango Regent Hamim Pou said that Dukcapil's move to destroy e-KTP was considered appropriate. He also explained that the Bone Bolango District Government will continue to actively conduct data collection for residents who do not have e-KTPs.
"I hope that the destruction of the local government will not be sent to the center. After being cut, it is better to destroy this KTP, such as being burned," hoped Hamim.
