PojokPos. Watu A unique material a traveler can find in Pekalongan. This ancient site in the form of square stones was formed 2 million years ago.

Stone is generally oval or even irregular. However, in Lemahabang Village, Doro Subdistrict, Pekalongan Regency there are many stones which are in the form of five to six rectangles which are on average 70 cm-80 cm in diameter. As for the length varies from a few meters.

The ancient site of Watu This material looks neatly arranged and forms cliffs. The beginning of the discovery of these giant stone blocks from natural disasters landslides in the local hills around the year 2016.

"Initially in 2016 there was an avalanche around the location. This landslide opened a pile of stones like the one currently seen," said Kartono, Lemahabang Village Chief, when met byTravel, Tuesday.

From this landslide, it clears the lands that cover the piles of stone blocks. By local residents then cleaned. It turned out that it wasn't at one point, but almost all the hills in the local area were square blocks of stone.

"After being cleared by residents, in 2017 the district government brought in an archaeologist to carry out research on the stones," Kartono added.
According to Kartono, Archeog finally conducted a study in March 2017 led by I Made Geria, Head of the National Archaeological Research Center.

From the results of the study, it is known that natural rocks are formed because of the overflow of magma that passes through the foot of Mount Rogojembangan, passing through the pores of the earth along with lime which separates one magma from another and occurs rapidly cooling. So it forms stones like now.

"Archaeologists said to us and the district team, this happened because of natural processes when Mount Petungkriyono (Rogojembangan) was still active, it was estimated to be two million years ago," he explained.

However, many people have received ancestral stories from generation to generation, Watu The material is available for the construction of a failed temple in a place.

"The name is Watu Bahan. The Indonesian language is stone which will be used as material for making something. The story is for the temple. Temple where we don't know," said Setiaji, a local youth when met by detikTravel at Watu Bahan tourist site.
Because it attracts the attention of many people, Watu Bahan is now an attractive tourist spot.

"Since it was opened two years ago, many people visited it on Sunday. Several times the scientists also came to do research on the rocks here," Setiaji explained.

Moreover, ancestral stories that tell there is a civilization lost since the stone age with evidence of the existence of rocks that are in neat shape like a beam.

"Yes, the name of the ancestral story is hereditary like that. Many large stones are in the shape of a pentagon, like stones that will be used to build temples or houses in ancient times," added Setiaji, who is also Chair of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in Lemahabang Village.

Regarding the historical heritage in the form of a city, he claimed he did not know for sure. But there is a possibility of civilization because some historical sites are around the location of Watu Materials. Like punden berundak and petilasan.

"We believe there is a story behind Watu Materials because there are many rocks that emerge from cliffs or very precise ground surfaces like carved by humans," he added.
